I have had the privilege of working with individuals and supervisors who excel in their fields and generously share their knowledge and experience. From them, I have learned that achieving excellent results requires both hard work and a passion for what you do.
Sigursteinn is one of the best partners I’ve ever worked with at the company. He is an extremely data-driven person with very high IT knowledge on top of his accounting background. He constantly seeks ways to streamline systems and workflows, giving the users better and more reliable information to take better decisions in running our large company.
Sigursteinn is a very honest person. He is a 100% all in person always seeking new ideas and technology and he dives deep into every task on his desk, looking for the ultimate quick and accessible solution. He is also a very open person, giving his thoughts out freely, he has opinions on most things, participating in discussions not only in his area, but always with one goal in mind to get more data easier and better in order to serve the staff as well as our customers better and thus helping the company grow.
Despite leaving to pursue new studies, Sigursteinn will remain a valuable asset to us in the coming years. He will continue to serve on the company’s board and remain one of our biggest shareholder.
Sigursteinn worked for the Samherji group from 2002-2016, where I have held the position of CEO at the same time. He was first hired in the financial department, overseeing various matters including large company mergers, analysis and implementation of new systems both in Iceland and subsidiaries in various European countries.
From 2005-2016 he served as CFO for the group. As head of the financial division, he hired and lead a group of employees along with facing challenging financial tasks on an international level. He managed the finances securely and in a way that increased the value of the company greatly, as well as instigating innovations such as starting up bank business in Norway.
During those years Sigursteinn proved to be an extremely valuable employee to the Samherji group as well as to me personally as one of my closest co-workers. He was an excellent employee, dedicated and hardworking. His work was high in quality, accurate and flawless. I recommend him without reservation.
I had the pleasure of working with Sigursteinn from 2001 to 2002. At that time, we were both working as Senior Associates in audit and finance reporting at KPMG. We collaborated closely on various projects, and I was impressed by his dedication, expertise, and ability to deliver high-quality results in an efficient way.
After Sigursteinn was hired by one of our clients, we continued to work together in a different capacity. As a service provider, I had the opportunity to observe his exceptional skill and professionalism from a client’s perspective. Sigursteinn demonstrated leadership, problemsolving abilities, and a deep understanding of the industry, which greatly contributed to the success of our collaborative efforts.

In recent years, I have been invited to sit on the boards of various companies. Through these experiences, I have met incredible people who are highly dedicated to running their businesses in the best possible way. These companies operate in very diverse industries, but they all share a common trait: they possess extensive expertise in their respective fields. Being involved in their operations and development has taught me a great deal.
Sigursteinn joined the board of Forest Lagoon at the start of the project in 2021 and was with us until 2024. It was a great benefit for us to have his knowledge and experience in finance and information systems during the development phase and especially when the company’s operations began in the spring of 2022.
My company, Forest Lagoon, is now one of the largest lagoons in Iceland, attracting over 150,000 visitors last year and generating a turnover close to €7 million. Achieving these impressive numbers required a robust information system and effective automation. Sigursteinn took on the challenging task of designing these systems and overseeing their implementation, ensuring everything ran efficiently, which was by no means a simple project.
Sigursteinn is a great Team-Worker, has strong opinions and communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. He is easy to get to know as he connects easily with others. He has a cheerful attitude and is quick with a smile and a joke. Furthermore he shares ideas and techniques, works hard and is always prepared to assist others.
Last but not least, he is capable of handling a large variety of assignments and his creative solutions have led to great improvement within our operation. Any company/operation would be lucky to have Sigursteinn on board their team.
